BMW has long been known for their luxury vehicles, but even for the average buyer, not every model they make is out of reach. Take the BMW 320i vs the BMW 328i. Both are family sedans with lots of amazing options, but there are some real differences, especially if you’re looking to make a purchase. Which one is going to be right for your garage? The Similarities

It might help to take a closer look at the similarities between these two vehicles first. Both offer seriously sporty performance with every single drive. You’ll find a turbocharged engine under the hood of both as well, and STEPTRONIC automatic transmission.

The interior on both vehicles has SensaTec upholstery, ideal if you have a family because it resists most types of damage. You can also expect their signature Advanced Vehicle & Key Memory with both that will remember what you prefer in terms of climate control and adjust it for you. A six speed manual gearbox is available on both models.

The Differences

Price is one of the biggest differences between these two vehicles. While they both come from the BMW 3 series, the 320i is likely to cost you around $36,000. A used BMW 328i sedan, though, will probably set you back a bit more, something like another $5,000 or so.

There’s a good reason for that price difference. Under the hood, the 320i has a 2.0 L TwinPower turbo engine that offers 180 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque. The 328i offers something a bit more – 240 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

When it comes to fuel economy, though, the 320i wins. It offers 24/36 for city/highway, while the 328i offered 23/35.

Inside, the 328i offered a number of customization options you’ll see as you shop for this used vehicle. Some came with Dakota leather, Ash Grain wood, and even metallic inlays. The 320i has a hi-fi sound system with 205 watts of power, but the audio system in the 328i is a Harman Kardon audio system, so you can expect higher quality acoustic performance. The 328i has one additional built-in feature: phenomenal GPS navigation with a touchpad.
