“Elegance” and the “Ultimate Luxury” were the words used to describe Cadillac vs. Lincoln automobiles in ads for decades. These were the leading prestige and luxury cars long before Japanese carmakers entered the market. Cadillac and Lincoln outsold even European luxury cars in post-war America. Both car companies even made convertible models of these luxury cars in the 1960s.
The Battle for the Soul of American Luxury is back on, according to Motor Trend. Cadillac had sales of 154,702 vehicles last year compared to Lincoln’s 103,582. Of course, these luxury car companies have extended their brands to include SUVs and other size vehicles, but they still remain the top brands for American-made luxury cars.
This is still General Motors versus the Ford Motor Company. It is GM’s Cadillac Escalade versus the Lincoln Navigator in the SUV class. Cadillac introduced a new CT6 full-size luxury sedan this year. Lincoln continued the long traditional of the Continental as its premier luxury sedan.
Lincoln is promoting the new Continental as quiet elegance with a plush interior and seats adjustable 30 different ways. Every hi-tech option is available including WI-FI access. The Cadillac CT6 for 2022 also has a luxury interior, all the electronics, and a quiet ride.
Electric Vehicles
Cadillac offers the all-electric LYRIQ. This special-order SUV is sold out for 2023, but the 2024 model can be ordered! This new car has a range of more than 300 miles before it needs to be recharged!
The new Lincoln EV is scheduled for 2023 and the company wants its entire fleet to be electric by 2030.
